Congratulations to the Richland High School drumline for their success at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention competition. The RHS drumline, under the direction of Evan Blackard and assisted by Adrian Castillo, received third-place honors out of 14 high school drumlines in the “Standstill Division” contest. Middle School Band Members Excel at Region Auditions

Congratulations to BISD’s middle school band members that auditioned for placement in the Region 5 middle school region bands. Competing against students from the Mansfield and Arlington school districts, BISD placed almost 100 students in one of the two region bands. These students will perform on Dec. 5 at the Willie Pigg Auditorium in Mansfield ISD.

BISD’s Advanced Academics Department Sponsoring Information Meetings

BISD’s Advanced Academics Department is sponsoring information meetings for eighth-, ninth-, and 10th-grade students and their parents at Birdville, Haltom and Richland high schools. Topics will include:

  • What is a pre-AP course?;
  • What is the difference/how similar are AP and Dual Credit courses?;
  • Changes to the college entrance exams; and
  • A panel of AP and Dual Credit teachers and students will discuss what life is really like for active students enrolled in these courses. Samples of work will also be displayed.

Eighth-grade students/parents should attend your feeder high school campus day; however, if needed, they may come to any presentation. The meetings are from 6–7 p.m. on the following dates:

  • RHS Nov. 18 (Auditorium)
  • HHS Dec. 1 (Omni Room)
  • BHS Dec. 15 (Cafeteria)

BISD Art Teachers Selected for City Exhibit

Congratulations to three BISD art teachers whose artworks were selected for display in the North Richland Hills Pop Up Gallery exhibition. Shana Martin, Birdville High; Thai Nguyen, Richland High; and Kelly Hurst, Smithfield Middle will join 45 other artists from North Richland Hills and surrounding areas for this art exhibit sponsored by the NRH Parks and Recreation Department, NRH Economic Development Department and local businesses. There will be a reception for the artists from 6–8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 with additional viewing hours on Saturday, Nov. 14 from
10 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the Venue Shopping Center at 6021 Walker Blvd., Suite 121, North Richland Hills.

Congratulations Riley Reeves Richland High School Senior

Congratulations to Riley Reeves, Richland High School senior, for signing to play tennis next year at Colorado State University. Riley won several awards at RHS including State Finalist in 2014 and was on multiple All-District and All-State teams.
