More than 400 seventh- and eighth-grade members of BISD’s middle school band programs recently competed in the All-Birdville Middle School Honor Band auditions. Congratulations to the 118 students that were selected as members of this highly competitive organization.

BISD Playwriting Honors

Richland High School, Haltom High School, and Watauga Middle School each had one winner and one runner-up in this year’s Neighborhood Play Contest. The winning playwrights’ produced plays will be part of the 2015 Festival of the Kid! taking place May 11‒13 at Stage West in Fort Worth. There will be two performances each evening (6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.). Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. For tickets, call the Stage West Box Office at 817-784-9378.

Watauga Middle One Act Play Receives Superior Rating

Congratulations to the Warrior Middle School theatre students for receiving a “Superior” rating for their 2015 UIL One Act Play, “Mariner.” Their performance was described by the adjudicator as “professionally executed and absolutely beautiful.” The Best Technical award went to Ashley Seale, Honorable Mention awards went to Lauren Murphy and Kaelyn Jordan, All-Star Cast awards went to Lauren Cox and Sonny Camacho, and the festival’s Best Actor award went to Dylan Walker. Other cast and crew members participating in the production were:  Alyssa Perez, Alyson Wiseman, Ryan Woods, Lilly Kiernan, Samantha Bradburn, Wesleyann Lawson, Julian Campos, Cristina DelCristo, Tim Zwerg, Sean Mazza, Melissa Allen, Brittany Mock, Isabella Suazo, and Eric Brobst.

Stage West Announces Neighborhood Play Contest Winners

Fort Worth’s Stage West Theatre recently announced winners of their Neighborhood Play Contest which included several student playwrights from BISD. The winning plays, selected from more than 450 entries, will be produced in Stage West’s Festival of the Kid May 11–13 in their studio theatre.  Congratulations to these BISD students and their winning plays:
