Rainbow Mustaches from Walker Creek Elementary
The Rainbow Mustaches from Walker Creek Elementary recently participated in the Texas state Destination Imagination Engineering Challenge: In It Together. They had to build more than one structure made of only balsa wood and glue and test it by placing weights on the structures. Their structures weighed 30.3 grams and held 745 pounds, earning them a weight held ratio of 32. The structures did not break after 745 pounds, but they ran out of space on the tester pole. They also presented a story of how two nations worked together to solve an international issue. Team members include: Leo Pierce, Nate Bolstad, Luke Bolstad, Sage Demaree, Mary Connolly, Toni Sentell and Janson Perry. Team managers are Katie Pierce and Becky Bolstad. #BISDShines
Congratulations! Richland Band Continues Winning Streak
This is the 38th consecutive year the Richland High School Varsity Concert Band earned the coveted UIL Sweepstakes rating. The 2017 varsity band performed brilliantly and was recognized by all six judges as a superior performing ensemble. This is the longest active streak for any school in BISD, and one of the longest in Texas. In addition to the varsity band’s success, both the Richland High School Symphonic and Concert bands earned unanimous superior ratings at the UIL Region 31 Concert and Sight Reading Contest. These students have sacrificed much of their own personal time to attend sectionals, rehearsals, and clinics outside the school day. Their dedication to their craft and each other was richly rewarded. #BISDShines
