Richland High School celebrates student earning perfect advanced placement exam score

MattFergusonRichland High School celebrates Matthew Ferguson, 2012 Richland High School graduate, for earning a perfect score on his AP Macroeconomics Exam in the spring of 2012.

Advanced Placement Exams are based on composite score of 1-5, where 5 is equivalent to a grade of A in the corresponding college course. Matthew not only received the top score of 5—ranking among 15.5 percent of students to fall within this top score category in 2012—but in doing so was one of only 17 students in the world to earn every point possible on the Macroeconomics Exam, answering every multiple-choice question correctly and earning full points on each of the essays in the free response section of the exam. He earned 90 out of 90. In total, 99,903 students took the AP Macroeconomics Exam in 2012.

Matthew is now attending Cornell University and is majoring in Chemical Engineering. In 2012, he was also named a National AP scholar as were six other graduates from Richland high School and three graduates from Birdville High School. The National AP Scholar award is granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores a 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

BISD is very proud of these graduates and their National AP awards.
