Richland High School Student Completes Eagle Scout Project #BISDShines

Steven Graham, Richland High School student and former North Ridge Middle School student, recently worked with several North Ridge teachers for his Eagle Scout project. Ms. Caceres, Mrs. Gorman and Mrs. Lord met with Steven several times to listen to his plan and then watch him put it into action. For his project, Steven chose to “revitalize” the science shed. After cleaning it out, replacing the flooring and building shelves, he sanded down and painted the outside of the shed. They are all proud of Steven and thank him for his hard work and perseverance in completing this task to earn his Eagle Scout. Steven is modeling BISD’s focus on excellence, integrity and service. #BISDShines

Richland High Wind Ensemble Advances to State Level of Honor Band Competition #BISDShines

The Richland High School Honors Band was selected as one of the 14 5A bands advancing to the Texas State Honor Band Contest Finals. Around 90 of the finest 5A wind ensembles across the state submitted recordings of their ensembles to be reviewed and adjudicated through the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band Process.

There are three major evaluations in the process. First, each group was heard and ranked by a panel of five judges at the Region round with RHS being one of the two ensembles that advanced to the next (Area) round. In late June, a separate panel evaluated eight bands (two groups from four different regions) and selected RHS as one of two groups to advance to the final (state) round of competition. The winner of the state contest will be invited to perform at the TMEA convention in February as the featured 5A high school ensemble.

Congratulations to the RHS Wind Ensemble and best of luck at the final round!
