Haltom High Wrestlers Advance to State

Congratulations to Aaliyah Stewart and Dani Seely, Haltom High School students, for advancing to the state UIL Wrestling Championship.

  • Aaliyah Stewart put together an excellent tournament run at State, going 51 over a grueling two days of competition. Stewart ends her junior season as  District Runner-up, Region 1 Champion, and UIL All-State Bronze Medalist with a 35record. Aaliyah becomes only the third Haltom Buffalo to earn All-State wrestling honors (Mike Villvicencio 2004, Tyree Smith 2016), and the first Lady Buff to make the podium.
  • Dani Seely ends her sophomore campaign as a District Champion, Regional Finalist, and two-time State Qualifier with a 397 record.

The Lady Buffalos finished 23rd out of 79 represented schools.

Haltom High Graduate Will Play in Super Bowl

Halapoulivaati Vatai Picture We Are Birdville ISD

Haltom High School graduate, Halapoulivaati Vatai, Big V, is starting at left tackle for the Eagles and will be playing in the Super Bowl.  He is a Haltom High School, Watauga Middle School, and TCU alum. Vatai is in his second year in the NFL and with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles starting left tackle went down with an injury early in the season and Big V stepped in and has held up nicely.  #BISDShines #WeAreBirdvilleISD

Haltom’s Head Football Coach Named Tom Landry Award Finalist

 

Congratulations to Jason Tucker, Haltom High School’s head football coach, for being named a finalist for the 2017 Tom Landry Award. The Landry Coach of the Year Award was created by CBS 11 and TXA 21 in partnership with the Greater Dallas/Fort Worth Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Character and Leadership Initiative highlighting the “One Way 2 Play – Drug Free” program. The Landry Coach of the Year Award is presented by Raising Cane’s.

HHS Robotics Team Take First Place

Haltom High School’s robotics team recently competed in the Cowtown BEST Robotics Competition. They won first place in a truly epic series in the finals! Colton Lyons, a junior, had the highest scoring round of the day in the last match of the day to secure the victory. In addition to winning first place, the team also won the Founders Award for Creative Design.

Team members are: Aman Kumar, Anthony Nguyen, Bishop Carey, Colton Lyons, Dalton Wheeler, Dominick Gomez, Eve Pulse, Forrest Knowles, Jailynne Verett, Jonathan Champion, Kayla Norris, Kenny Nguyen, Laksha Parajuli, Luis Rosales, Matthew Benson, Max Crow, Michael Holmes, Raimson Inthankoun and R.J. Leaper.

The team has advanced to the Texas BEST/ UIL State Robotics Competition Dec. 7-9.
