On May 8, Shannon High School received the results from Best of Texas for their UIL Social Studies and Current Issues teams. They entered this contest in January and completed two rounds competing in the 6A division against other high schools from across the state of Texas. Shannon High School students received first place among 12th graders across the entire state and received First Place Overall Team in the 6A division in both Social Studies and Current Issues. This is the second year Shannon has taken first place in Current Issues and the first year in Social Studies. Team members are Ashley Daniel, senior; Bailey Malloy, senior; Myjoni Johnson, senior; Desiree Rodriguez, junior; and Jordan Turner, a sophomore. These students have put countless hours of time and dedication into UIL as a whole. Their sponsor is Teresa Peters, Business Information Management I & II teacher.
