Each year the faculty of the College of Education at Dallas Baptist University presents a School Partnership Award, recognizing a local school system which partners with our university in a unique and comprehensive manner. School partnerships are critical for the success of our students, and we certainly hope DBU makes a contribution to the schools. For the 2016–2017 school year, the faculty has selected Birdville ISD for the School Partnership Award!
Birdville ISD was selected for many reasons, not the least being the long-term relationship we have had for over two decades. It is the site of the longest and continuously operated graduate cohort, and according to our records 10 of your 33 principals received their masters degrees from DBU. In addition, numerous assistant principals, directors, and coordinators have graduate degrees from DBU, including nine doctoral students. At least eight BISD administrators currently serve as adjunct professors at DBU, and two full-time DBU faculty members are former BISD administrators. Most importantly, many of the teachers we produce are hired in Birdville schools. The awards ceremony was held on Thursday, Nov. 17 on the DBU campus.
