Congratulations to three BISD art teachers whose artworks were selected for display in the North Richland Hills Pop Up Gallery exhibition. Shana Martin, Birdville High; Thai Nguyen, Richland High; and Kelly Hurst, Smithfield Middle will join 45 other artists from North Richland Hills and surrounding areas for this art exhibit sponsored by the NRH Parks and Recreation Department, NRH Economic Development Department and local businesses. There will be a reception for the artists from 6–8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 with additional viewing hours on Saturday, Nov. 14 from
10 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the Venue Shopping Center at 6021 Walker Blvd., Suite 121, North Richland Hills.

Congratulations to the Richland High School Award-Winning Marching Band
Congratulations to the Richland High School award-winning marching band on their 40th consecutive Sweepstakes award. They received three first-division scores from all judges at the UIL Marching contest at Pennington Field. That is 40 years of first division scores from all judges. Birdville High School Mighty Hawk Band Selected to UIL State 5A Marching Competition
Congratulations to the Birdville High School Mighty Hawk Band on their selection to the UIL State 5A Marching Competition. Out of 26 bands competing at the Area B Marching Contest, BHS completed preliminary competition in fifth place moving up two ranks in finals to finish in third place overall. The top five bands from Area B join bands from the state’s other six areas to compete on Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the Alamodome. The Mighty Hawk Band will perform in preliminary competition at 9:15 a.m., which can be viewed live online through Mr. Video Productions (http://mrvideoproductions.com). Congratulations to RHS Honors Band
Congratulations to Richland High School’s Honors Band, under the direction of Jason Bird, for being recognized as a commended winner in the National Mark of Excellence competition hosted by The Foundation for Music Education. While they do not release exact placements, this award means the RHS Honors Band is one of the top 14 bands from across the nation that submitted to the contest. Along with the ensemble recognition, graduates Taylor Wyatt and Nicole Griffin, were named outstanding soloists. Pictured with their honor are drum majors Vicky Murillo and Josh Alpert.
