Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble Members Announced
Auditions for the 2016 Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble have concluded and included in this year’s highly selective roster is Jonathan Shier, trumpeter from Birdville High School. Jonathan will join the rest of the All-State Jazz Ensemble in San Antonio in February for rehearsals and a performance during the Texas Music Educators Association Convention.
Birdville High School Jazz Ensemble Named National Winner
Congratulations to the Birdville HS Jazz Ensemble for their recent selection as one of only two “2015 National Winners” in the Foundation For Music Education’s Mark of Excellence recorded music contest. Birdville High School Bi-District Football Playoffs
Birdville High School will play Boswell High School in the bi-district football playoffs at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at AT&T Stadium.
The north side of the stadium will be reserved for Birdville attendees. The closest parking for the north side are lots 1, 2, 3 and 10. A small allotment of General Admission tickets are on sale at school this week for $10.

Birdville High School Mighty Hawk Band Selected to UIL State 5A Marching Competition
Congratulations to the Birdville High School Mighty Hawk Band on their selection to the UIL State 5A Marching Competition. Out of 26 bands competing at the Area B Marching Contest, BHS completed preliminary competition in fifth place moving up two ranks in finals to finish in third place overall. The top five bands from Area B join bands from the state’s other six areas to compete on Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the Alamodome. The Mighty Hawk Band will perform in preliminary competition at 9:15 a.m., which can be viewed live online through Mr. Video Productions (http://mrvideoproductions.com). NRH Environmental Education Grant Program and Green Campus winners announced
The City of North Richland Hills’ Keep NRH Beautiful Commission recently announced their Environmental Education Grant Program and Green Campus winners.
- 2015–16 Environmental Education Grant Program: Green Valley Elementary: Digging Into KinderGarden: North Ridge Elementary: Wild About Flowers, Bugs and Birds; Foster Village Elementary: Hydroponic Garden; and the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning (BCTAL): Bistro Solar-Powered Charging Station. (A total of $2,000 in funding will be provided for these projects.)
- Green Campus: Birdville High School, Green Valley Elementary and North Ridge Elementary. (Each school will receive a $150 cash prize to be used towards campus maintenance or beautification.)
