Congratulations to Julia Skeen, North Ridge Elementary student, for her dance/choreography PTA Reflections submission advancing from state to the National PTA Reflections contest. Her entry is one of five advancing to nationals in the dance/choreography category. Of the 1,023 Reflections entries the Texas PTA received, thirty students are now advancing to the National PTA Reflections program.

Board Revises 14-15 Calendar
The Board of Trustees approved revising the 2014-15 school calendar because of the inclement weather day on Feb. 24. June 1 will now be a full day. June 2–3 will be half days with Wednesday, June 3 the last day of school. June 4 will be a student holiday/teacher preparation day.
Board Approves Sale/Refinancing of Bonds, Saving Taxpayers Millions
At their regular February meeting, BISD’s Board of Trustees authorized the sale of $105 million in bonds during March 2015. The Board is selling bonds at this time to take advantage of historically low interest rates, thus saving taxpayers interest on bonds approved by voters in November 2014. In addition, the Board voted to refinance $99,272,054 of Series 2007 and 2008 bonds to also take advantage of the historically low interest rates.
Rebellaires’ Success at Madrigal Festival
Congratulations to the Richland High School Rebellaires on their recent success at the American Classics Madrigal and Chamber Choir Festival in San Antonio. In addition to scoring all superior ratings, the Rebellaires were awarded a “Performance of Distinction” award. Because of this award, the Rebellaires will be featured on The Best of The American Classics Madrigal and Chamber Choir Festival CD (Vol. 5), which will be sold nationally late this spring.
