Holocaust survivor Paula Weissman recently shared her story with students at Haltom High School. Ms. Weissman was the guest of BISD Trustee Kelvin Dilks. #WeAreBirdvilleISD appreciates Mr. Dilks and Ms. Weissman for expanding the students’ understanding of the Holocaust from the perspective of a Holocaust survivor.
Girls and coaches from the Academy at C.F. Thomas (ACFT) and Snow Heights Elementary recently participated in the Girls on the Run Fall 5K race at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie.
Sally Frye is the head coach at Snow Heights, and Elizabeth Shier is the head coach at ACFT. ACFT has had a Girls on the Run team since fall of 2010. This was Ms. Shier’s 21st 5K with the ACFT Girls on the Run team. ACFT has girls participating now who were babies when their sisters participated, and the alumni always come back to visit. The state has extended the deadline for families to submit their free and reduced meal application for the spring 2022 semester. Friday, Jan. 14 is the last day to submit your application to the district. A key component of the free and reduced meal application allows state and national agencies to identify families eligible for funds through the P-EBT program. If you received P-EBT funds in 2020–21 and do not complete the 2021–22 form, you will not be eligible for P-EBT funds or other benefits in 2021–22.
NOTE: Breakfast and lunch are still free for all students during the 2021–22 school year. However, all families are encouraged to complete the application to be eligible for other benefits.
