BISD Summer Reading Club Commercial Contest Winners Announced
Congratulations to Logan Evans, Richland High School student, for winning the BISD Summer Reading Club commercial contest sponsored by the public libraries of the five BISD cities. His winning video will be shown at all Birdville elementary and middle schools between now and the end of school. Congratulations also to Monica Bartley, Richland High School student, who was a runner-up in the contest.

Best Elementary Film – “A Magical Dragon Tale,” directed by Savannah Thomas from Haltom High School and Delaney Thomas from Watauga Elementary School
Best Middle School Film – “Spiderweb,” directed by Tatum McDonald from Smithfield Middle School
Best High School Film – “The Ambition Song,” directed by Ian Chapoy from Birdville High School
Girls on the Run Teams
The Girls on the Run teams from the Academy at C.F. Thomas, North Ridge and Mullendore elementary schools, their running buddies, and coaches recently participated in a 5K race along with hundreds of other Girls on the Run participants from across North Texas.
Binion Elementary Skyped with Southwestern University President Edward Burger
For College and Career week, and because their teacher is a Southwestern University alumna, Hannah DeArmond’s third-grade class at Binion Elementary Skyped with SU President Edward Burger. President Burger is co-author of the “GoMath” books and is featured in the “On the Spot” online videos. The class was honored he took time to visit with them, and he was so impressed with the class that he tweeted about their visit. #futurepirates
