Face-to-Face or Online Instruction: BISD Still Needs to Know Your Preference

Even though Tarrant County Public Health has removed the option for schools to begin with face-to-face instruction in August, BISD is asking parents to indicate their preference between face-to-face and online instruction when they register their child(ren) online. Your choice will not change the first six weeks of school. However, it does allow BISD to plan for what school will look like when face-to-face instruction begins.

Remember: Parents will have the choice to change between the two platforms at the end of each grading period.

BISD Releases 2020 Reopening Plan

Reopening Plan

Birdville ISD released its 2020–21 Reopening Plan on July 23. The Plan includes information regarding online and face-to-face instruction, health and safety information, assessment, special education and much more.

Due to the constantly evolving situation with COVID-19, and the regularly changing guidance from state education and health officials, BISD’s Plan will be reviewed and updated as needed to reflect new requirements from the CDC; federal, state, or county orders; or the Texas Education Agency.

Since the Plan is subject to change, BISD families and staff are encouraged to continue to check the site for further updates to the Plan.

BISD’s Revised 2020–21 School Calendar

At the Thursday, July 23 Board meeting, trustees voted to accept administration’s recommendation to push the start of school back to Monday, Aug. 24. This change will allow the District to provide teachers additional training, distribute technology to students, and allow parents to be trained on Canvas Parent.

Canvas Parent is designed to provide visibility into your child’s education at a glance. Canvas Parent allows parents to:

  • View assignment descriptions and due dates;
  • Set reminders for assignments;
  • View assignment grades;
  • View course grades; and
  • Facilitate communication between parents and teachers.

It is important for parents, teachers and students to review the changes to the 202021 calendar.

NOTE: Additional details about the start of the school year will be posted online as soon as information becomes available.
