Teacher at Watauga Middle School Awarded a Horace Mann Scholarship

WMSTeacher_VanRVan Ratsaphangthong, seventh- and eighth-grade Pre-AP math teacher at Watauga Middle School (WMS), was awarded a Horace Mann Scholarship to the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals’  (TASSP) Principal Academy. He will attend the conference for principals and aspiring principals this summer in San Antonio. The scholarship pays for the conference and all expenses. He was one of two Texas winners that Horace Mann selected. Ratsaphangthong is a graduate of BISD and has taught at WMS for six years.

Stepfanie Romero, second-grade bilingual teacher at Watauga Elementary, has been selected as the 2011 Texas Association of Bilingual Education (TABE) Teacher of the Year. She is being recognizedfor her dedication to the needs of second language learners and for her outstanding leadership. TABE believes Romero’s professionalism and expertise in the area of bilingual education will serve as excellent qualifications to compete in the NABE Teacher of the Year selection.
