BISD Playoff Information

Birdville High School’s Lady Hawk softball team will play Joshua High School in the Area round of the state playoffs. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. The best of three series is as follows:
Game 1 – Thursday, May 7 at 7 p.m. Birdville High
Game 2 – Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m. Joshua High
Game 3 (If necessary) – Saturday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at Joshua High

Game 1 – Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. Birdville High
Game 2 – Friday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. Denton High
Game 3 (If necessary) – Saturday, May 9 at noon at Northwest High

 

Richland High School’s Rebel baseball team will play Mansfield High School in the Bi-district round of the state playoffs. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. The best of three series is as follows:

Game 1 – Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. Mansfield High
Game 2 – Friday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. Richland High
Game 3 (If necessary) – Saturday, May 9 at 1 p.m., location TBD

BISD Playwriting Honors

Richland High School, Haltom High School, and Watauga Middle School each had one winner and one runner-up in this year’s Neighborhood Play Contest. The winning playwrights’ produced plays will be part of the 2015 Festival of the Kid! taking place May 11‒13 at Stage West in Fort Worth. There will be two performances each evening (6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.). Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. For tickets, call the Stage West Box Office at 817-784-9378.

BISD Student and Teacher Honored

Alexandria Figueroa, Richland High School freshman, was recently honored for her winning entry in the “My Favorite Teacher Contest” sponsored by Barnes and Noble Booksellers. Figueroa wrote a letter to a teacher who influenced her life. She had to state in her letter why she admired and appreciated her favorite teacher, Hillary Friday, North Ridge Middle School math/algebra teacher. Figueroa and Friday both received certificates of recognition and a gift from the Barnes and Noble, Hurst store. Figueroa’s entry will be submitted in the bookseller’s regional contest.

Congratulations to the Destination Imagination teams from Richland High School and Smithfield Middle School for qualifying for the Global Finals to be held May 20–23 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Richland’s team name is “Lost All Dignity.” Team members are: Keri Murrell (manager), Emily Mullins, Peyton Murrell, Connor McDermott, Alyssa Kunkel, Levi Richey and Ryan Janke. Smithfield’s team name is “Collateral Chaos.” Team members are: Katie Pierce (manager), Keegan Pierce, Asher Pierce, Robbie Baum, Nathan Lucas, Zane Sanchez, Alex French and Jack Vinson.
