BISD High School Artists Success at Regional VASE

Congratulations to the BISD high school artists who recently competed in the regional level of the Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE). Besides numerous superior ratings, a number of students’ artworks have been selected to compete at the state-level competition at the end of April.  These students are:

Birdville High – Emerson Brakeley, Macy Brown (two artworks), Katelyn Carlson, Valentin Correa, Haley Evans (two artworks), Hannah Fitch, Salma Garcia, Jennifer Houtchens, Macy Koontz, Dao Nhan (two artworks), Emperetriz Petit, Miranda Shaw (two artworks) and Meagan Watkins;

Richland High – Helen Le, Patricia Moreno, Nayzak Najm, Kacey Quiroz-Contreras and Oscar Valenzuela (two artworks); and

Haltom High – Colton Arellano (two artworks), Justin Bishop (two artworks), Paige Cabra, Brandy Isarraras, Jaden Jensen (two artworks), Kierrany Johnson, Lasamy Sarawichitr, Phimvaly Sarawichitr, Yamilette Soto and Arnaud Yubahwe.

Haltom High School Presents “42nd Street”

“42nd Street” is set in New York City in 1933 and follows the company of the 42nd Street Theatre as they produce an original Broadway show from writing, to auditioning, to rehearsing, to opening night. It is full of classic Broadway music, tap dancing, and spectacular sets and costumes. Haltom High School’s student company is made up of 42 performers, 19 orchestra members, and about 30 crew members.

Shows are Jan. 31 through Feb. 3 in the theatre at Haltom High. Tickets are $7 for students and senior adults, and $10 for adults.

BISD theatre and choir teachers get one free ticket. Please sign in at the box office or contact Renee Norris (817-547-6126 or renee.norris@birdvilleschools.net) in advance to have your ticket delivered to your school.

Middle School Musical Night is Monday, Feb. 2. All middle school choir and theatre students can purchase tickets for $5. The companies of “Shrek” and “Once Upon a Mattress” get tickets for $3.

BISD retired teachers get a free ticket.

This allows you to use your credit card in advance. Show your electronic receipt or printed receipt at the box office to claim your ticket.

Birdville ISD Children to Perform at Meyerson Symphony Center

On Saturday, January 31, 240 North Texas elementary and middle school students will sing in the 19th Annual North Texas Children’s Choir concert. The concert will be held in the world renowned Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas. 22 vocalists, listed below, from Birdville ISD will perform.

2015 Distinguished Alumni of the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music

HullGCongratulations to Greg Hull, Haltom High School band director, for being named the 2015 Distinguished Alumni of the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. He will be honored at an alumni reception being held during the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio.

The City of North Richland Hills’ Keep NRH Beautiful Commission is proud to announce the winners for the 2015 Environmental Education Grant Program, Green Campus and Waste in Place Contest.

 

Birdville ISD winners were:

2015 Environmental Education Grant Program Winner –  Funding will be provided for the Green Valley Elementary Green Thumbs project and North Ridge Elementary Compost Collection Campaign.

Green Campus Winners – Birdville High, Green Valley Elementary, Holiday Heights Elementary, North Ridge Elementary and Walker Creek Elementary all qualified for the Green Campus award.  Each school will receive a Green Campus sign, and a $150 cash prize to be used towards campus maintenance or beautification.Waste In Place 2014 Winners

  • Waste In Place Contest Winners – Over 100 students creatively illustrate in words, song, pictures and sculptures how they take pride in their local environment.  Both winning students and their teacher were rewarded with gift cards.

BISD celebrates 2015 All-State Musicians

congratulationsCongratulations to each outstanding BISD high school musician selected as a Texas All-State Musician for 2015. These students successfully navigated through multiple auditions. All-State band and choir members will travel to San Antonio in February to participate in the four-day Texas Music Educators Association Convention, where they will rehearse and perform with renowned clinician-conductors. The musicians are:
