TCU STEM Scholar Program Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Linette Medrano, Haltom High School senior, who was awarded a $293,000 full four-year scholarship to TCU by the TCU STEM Scholar program. Currently in its fifth year, the STEM Scholar program at TCU represents one of TCU’s most ambitious programs. The scholarships provide academic support and leadership development to increase the numbers of the best and brightest students from underrepresented populations to pursue degrees in STEM.

Birdville ISD Assistant Principal Named Region XI 2023 Region Assistant Principal of the Year

Jason Winans, Birdville ISD assistant principal at Stowe Elementary, has been named the 2023 Region Assistant Principal of the Year for Region XI by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA). The peer-based award recognizes assistant principals for their commitment to student learning as evidenced by exceptional school leadership.

Honorees will be recognized at the TEPSA Awards Celebration Wednesday, June 7 at the Round Rock Kalahari.

Green Valley Elementary Fifth graders Inducted Into National Elementary Honor Society

Congratulations Smithfield Middle School Art Team

Congratulations to Kelly Hurst and her Smithfield Middle School art team for being named the 2023 Middle School Classroom Champion in the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo (FWSSR) art contest! As the Middle School Classroom Champion, Smithfield Middle School received $5,000 for its art department and a FWSSR belt buckle. In addition, the students’ artwork will be displayed January 13 through February 4 at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.

Also, congratulations goes out to Bella Jennings for receiving 6th place for her “Retro Cowboy” entry! One judge simply said, “There was nothing like it.”

2023 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Artwork Winners

Bella Jennings is a finalist for the 2023 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo for her individual artwork. She will find out how her work placed during an awards presentation on January 7. Mrs. Hurst selected 12 student artworks to be entered in the classroom division and they won $5,000 for the class. Congratulations to Gabby Dubois, Dunja Veselinovic, Julie Trotter, Alyssa Bartlett, Sadie Wells, Bella Jennings, Ella Pasechnikov, Kinley Nelson, Jaslyn Le, Linh Bui, Brynn Hyatt and Kaycee Mitchell!
