Now that the bond has passed, the Board and Administration have begun the complex process of developing a timeline for completing all aspects of the projects included in the bond referendum. This timeline will be published on our website as soon as it has been completed. Progress reports will also be posted regularly online.

The designs of The Academy at West Birdville, Birdville Elementary and North Richland Middle School campuses will be determined by the current and future needs of students and staff. The District will evaluate existing facilities to identify what works well and what needs to be changed. In addition, recently opened schools in other districts may be visited to identify positive features that might benefit our students.

During the design phase of each campus, our architects will seek input from teachers and administrators. All input will be considered as the District works with architects to develop a unique design that is best for each BISD campus. (How the new campuses will differ from our current facilities is yet to be determined.)

From design to completion, it will take at least 22 months to open a new elementary school and 34 months to open a new middle school. If there are site issues or other complicating factors to be addressed, the completion time may be even longer.
