

On Friday, May 2, Birdville ISD Superintendent Dr. Gayle Stinson announced the appointments of Dr. Cheryl Waddell as principal at Cheney Hills Elementary, and Kenji Ford as principal at Binion. Waddell is replacing Billy Pope, who has retired from the district.
Waddell has been principal at Binion Elementary since 2023. Prior to Binion, she was principal at Spicer Elementary from 2010–23; an assistant principal at the Academy at C.F. Thomas Elementary from 2007–10; taught fourth grade at Walker Creek Elementary from 2005–07; and fourth grade at Smithfield Elementary from 2002–05.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University, master’s degree from Dallas Baptist University, and doctorate degree from Walden University.
Ford has been principal at Hardeman Elementary since 2023. Before that, she was an assistant principal at Holiday Heights Elementary from 2020-23, third and fourth grade reading teacher at Sunrise Elementary in Fort Worth ISD from 2018–20, an assistant principal at McRoberts Elementary in Katy ISD from 2015–18, an instructional coordinator at Golbow Elementary and Sundown Elementary in Katy ISD from 2013–15, and held various other teaching positions from 2002–13.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from DePaul University, a master’s degree from American Intercontinental University, and a master’s degree from the University of Houston – Clear Lake.
