Education and Training students from the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning (BCTAL) recently won top honors at the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) state competition at Texas Tech University. The competitive events are directly related to the teaching profession and require advanced skills in planning, understanding curriculum and delivering instruction. These students will advance to the Future Educators Association National Conference in Washington, DC April 22–26.

• Rachel Jefferies won first place in Public Speaking and $2,200 in scholarships from TAFE and Texas Tech.
• Michaela Mais and Abby Pursley won second place for their technology video.
• Jennifer Strawn, Shannon McHugh and Meredith Stonecipher won second place for their “Inside Our Schools” video.
• Meagan Watson, Elexis Stanley and Adriana Medina won third place for researching learning challenges associated with Autism.
• Jesse Jasso won fourth place for lesson planning and delivery­­ – Career and Technology Education (CTE) lesson.
• Meredith Stonecipher won fifth place for lesson planning and delivery ­­­­– Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) lesson.
