Birdville ISD is proud to offer this opportunity to support students in preparing for the PSAT and offer College/Career Connection & Enrichment activities this summer. The program will provide two weeks of instruction for Math and Evidence-based Reading and Writing. Each day of the program students will be engaged in STEM-based enrichment activities. We will also provide information on how to use Khan Academy to access individualized online tutoring for the PSAT/SAT after our program has ended.

BISD Director of Athletics, Chris Feris, Moving to Conroe ISD

On Tuesday, April 19, Conroe ISD’s Board of Trustees named Chris Feris director of athletics for the district. Feris has been director of athletics in BISD since February 2013.  

“I will forever be grateful to Birdville ISD for putting their trust in me to oversee the District’s athletics programs. However, my family and I have a tremendous opportunity to return home, closer to our children and other family members,” Feris said. “I am blessed to have been a member of the BISD family. This District will always hold a special place in my heart.” 

BISD Superintendent, Dr. Gayle Stinson, shared, “I am excited for Chris and count it a privilege to have had the opportunity to work with him. I wish him well in this new chapter of his life.”

Superintendent Announces Birdville High School Head Basketball Coach

BISD Superintendent, Dr. Gayle Stinson, announced on Thursday, April 7, the appointment of Anthony S. Holman to the position of head basketball coach for Birdville High School. He is replacing Jeff Fitch who is retiring at the end of the 2021–22 school year. 

Holman has been the assistant varsity coach at Birdville High School since 2012 where he also teaches professional communications and health. Before Birdville High, Holman was a teacher and coach at Smithfield Middle School from 2006–12 and was the athletic coordinator on the campus from 2009–12.  

He has many achievements as a basketball coach and player. 

As a coach: 

  • TABC 5A Assistant Coach of the Year in 2017 
  • TABC Assistant Coach of the Year Finalist for 2015 
  • 5A Regional Quarter-Final Champions (Birdville High School) 2015 
  • Area Champions (Birdville High School) 2015, 2017 
  • Bi-District Champions (Birdville High School) 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022 

As a player: 

  • All-American Southwest Conference Team, 2004–06 
  • Academic All-American Southwest Conference, 2004-06 
  • #14 All-Time leading scorer at Austin College (1,059 pts.) 
  • Mega Invitational Tournament (MIT) Grand Champions in Europe (with USA Athletics), 2004 

Holman received his bachelor’s degree from Austin College and master’s degree from Lamar University.

Hardeman Homecoming: It’s time to return to the Hardeman campus 

We are resuming all classes back at the Hardeman Elementary campus on Monday, April 4.  Class times and bus schedules will return to normal.   

There are still repairs to be made, but the building is safe, clean, and ready for the return of students. As part of the cleaning process, the air quality has been tested by two independent companies, and the air in the building is safe. Thank you to the parents and staff for working together during this difficult time. You are superstars in the BISD family. 

Hardeman Bienvenida: es hora de volver al plantel de Hardeman  

Reanudaremos todas las clases en la escuela primaria Hardeman el lunes 4 de abril. Los horarios de clase y de autobús volverán a su normalidad.  

Aún quedan reparaciones por hacer, pero el edificio está seguro, limpio y listo para el regreso de los estudiantes. Como parte del proceso de limpieza, se ha probado la calidad del aire por dos empresas independientes y se ha determinado que el aire en el edificio es seguro. Gracias a los padres y al personal por trabajar juntos durante este momento difícil. Ustedes son superestrellas en la familia BISD.
