Trustees Approve Haltom High School Head Football Coach

TuckerAt their regular January meeting, the Birdville ISD Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Jason Tucker to the position of head football coach/athletic coordinator for Haltom High School.Currently, he is the defensive coordinator and an algebra teacher at Chisholm Trail High School in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. He brings with him 16 years of coaching experience including: head football coach/athletic coordinator with Burleson High School; defensive backs and offensive line coach at Carroll Senior High School; freshman football coach at Haltom High School; and seventh- and eighth-grade coach at Haltom Middle School.Tucker received his bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University in 1998.

Congratulations to the 21 BISD musicians

Congratulations to the 21 BISD musicians for achieving the highest individual award a high school music student can attain in Texas by being selected to a Texas All State band or choir. These students will travel to San Antonio in February to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association convention. BISD’s 2014 All-State band members are: Haltom High – Audrey Calcote, French horn; Moises Correa, clarinet; Skyler Hill, clarinet; Jessica Lilley, E-flat clarinet; Shane Traylor, trumpet; and Jerry Turner, jazz trombone; Richland High – Drake Amador, baritone saxophone; Megan Barnhart, flute; Patrick Byars, jazz trumpet; Daniel Christiansen, trumpet; Jonathan Duer, tenor trombone; Haley Hoffman, English horn; Cody Reynolds, bassoon; and Taylor Wyatt, French horn. BISD’s 2014 All-State choir members are: Haltom High – Richie Del Christo, tenor 1; Richland High – Matt Garner, tenor 2; Sean Kelly, bass 1; and Eunique Thomas-Belmonte, alto 2; and Birdville High – Grace Hughes, soprano 1; Hannah Malkey, alto 1; and Ashley Rose, soprano 2.

Congratulations to the 30 BISD high school band members selected as area candidates in the Texas All State Band competition. They will compete in the final round of auditions in January in pursuit of being named an All State member, the highest individual honor a high school musician can achieve in Texas. Area winners are: Birdville High – Alexandria LaMastra, Rebekah McCorkle, Shelby Salkar and Jesus Sanchez; Haltom High – Audrey Calcote, Daniel Carillo, Moises Correa, Skyler Hill, Monique Inthirath, Jessica Lilley, Christian Martinez, Abigail Panek and Shane Traylor; and Richland High – Jeremy Amador, Megan Barnhart, Jake Buckner, Daniel Christensen, Jacob Collins, Kara Conway, Tylar Cravens, Jonathan Duer, Dean Furrer, Nicole Griffin, Haley Hoffman, Christina Howell, Evan Milligan, Deanna Pierce, Cody Reynolds, Reece Waddell and Taylor Wyatt.
