Spicer Elementary students recently won first place in the “National Two Different Colored Shoes Day” photo contest. The purpose of “National Two Different Colored Shoes Day” is to celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of humanity. Spicer used this day to talk to students about acceptance and empathy. These are two of BISD’s CORE values.

Gabby Nelson Named WFAA’s Chevy Female Student/Athlete of the Year
Gabby Nelson, 2015 Birdville High School graduate, was awarded the WFAA Chevy Female Student/Athlete of the Year. The WFAA High School Sports Special airs at 11 p.m. June 14. Nelson will play basketball for Yale University in the fall. She was nominated by Birdville’s Head Girls Basketball Coach Amy Ingram.
