“Touch of Class” is an opportunity for students, staff, parents and community members to recognize BISD employees for the positive work they do for children and the District.
BISD’s Communications Department is seeking feedback on the primary tools used to communicate District news. The goal of the department is to be, “Your trusted resource for reliable, relevant and timely information.”
In celebration of National Dyslexia Awareness Month, BISD is sponsoring a “Dyslexia Parent Education Night” from 6:30–7:30 p.m. Oct.13 in the library at Binion Elementary. This night is an opportunity for parents of students with dyslexia to learn about Learning Ally, and the benefits that assistive technology can have in improving reading. The event is free. National Math and Science Initiative – College Readiness Program Grant Highlights for Haltom High include:
AP exams taken increased 33 percent (507 exams)
AP qualifying scores increased again this year by 16 percent (184 scores of 3 or higher)

Tickets will be available at the gate for the 17th Annual BISD Marching Festival, Saturday, September 26, 2015 from Noon to 10:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts/Athletics Complex, 9200 Mid Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills, TX 76180.
Seventeen fabulous area marching bands will be competing for the coveted grand champion trophy. Four bands will be performing in exhibition. In performance order, the exhibition bands are: Richland HS Marching Band under the direction of Jason Bird marching at Noon, UTA Maverick Band under the direction of John Zastoupil will march post-prelims at 5 p.m., Haltom HS Pride of Haltom Marching Band under the direction of Greg Hull marching at 6:45 p.m., and the Birdville HS Mighty Hawk Band under the direction of Mike Cheripka marching at 10 p.m. In addition, tickets are good for all day – prelims and finals. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens, 65 and above. Tickets are available at the gate.
