Missing School: It Adds Up!

When your child attends school regularly, they have the opportunity to excel academically and to establish a positive daily routine for learning. Regular attendance allows for students to be involved in lessons, develop relationships with their peers, and make the most of their education. It also gives teachers the opportunity to assess each student and to effectively plan ahead. Excessive absences can lead to students missing out on important information or falling behind in their studies. Regular school attendance is an important indicator of your child’s performance and success as they grow into adulthood.

Simply put, absences add up.

Did you Know…?

In the 2022-2023 school year, Birdville ISD’s attendance rate was 93.8%. That means about 1,360 kids missed school each day. Because each absence costs $38 in state funding, the district lost about $51,700 a day or an estimated $9 million due to these absences. This is money no longer available to support student learning or programs in BISD.
