The City of Hurst has contracted with ANA Site Construction to install a new 8-inch diameter plastic water main in front of Porter Elementary on Prestondale Drive between Regency Drive and Springhill Drive. The aerial pictures show the approximate location of the work. The existing water main is under the sidewalk behind the street curb on the school side of Prestondale. The new line will be installed under the street pavement adjacent to the concrete curb and gutter. To protect our students, staff and families, the contractor will erect construction fencing around the area they are working in. The plan is not to fence off more than about 200 feet of street frontage at a time. The contractor does not plan on closing Prestondale or making it a one-way. He will only shut down half a drive approach at a time, thereby maintaining traffic flow in and out of the two drive approaches the school has onto Prestondale.
The school’s water service should not be affected by the construction. The contractor plans on starting work the week of Oct. 25 and installation should not take more than three weeks.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
As we begin the 2021–22 school year, BISD is asking all families to complete the 2021–22 Free and Reduced Meal application. One of the key components of the application is it is used to identify families eligible for funds through the P-EBT program. If you received P-EBT funds in 2020–21 and do not complete the 2021–22 form, you will not be eligible for P-EBT funds or other benefits in 2021–22.
NOTE: Breakfast and lunch are still free for all students during the 2021–22 school year. However, we ask all families to complete the application to be eligible for other benefits.
