On March 23, the Bluff Dale ISD Board of Trustees approved the selection of Jason Wells as the lone finalist for superintendent of schools. After a mandatory 21-day waiting period, the Bluff Dale ISD Board will name Wells as superintendent of schools.

Wells has been the principal at Birdville High School since 2008. Before serving as principal, he served two years as assistant principal at Birdville High, two years as assistant principal of North Ridge Middle School, and two years as a math teacher at North Richland Middle School. In addition to his educational experience in BISD, Wells taught and coached in Fort Worth ISD and Lampasas ISD.

“We congratulate Jason and thank him for the 21 years of service to the students, parents, staff, and community of BISD,” Superintendent Dr. Gayle Stinson said. “He is a phenomenal leader and Bluff Dale ISD made an excellent choice in Mr. Wells. I wish him well in this new chapter of his career.”

Wells will continue in his role at Birdville High through the end of May. The District will begin the search for a new campus leader during this time.

Board names Cheney Hills Elementary principal

At a special meeting on Wednesday, March 8, Birdville ISD’s Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Billy Pope as principal of Cheney Hills Elementary. He is replacing Shane Conklin, Ed.D., who left the District in December to take a position in another district.

Pope has been serving as interim principal at Cheney Hills since January 2023. He retired as principal at Mullendore where he served from 2006–20. Before serving as principal, Pope was an assistant principal at The Academy at C.F. Thomas, Smithfield and Watauga elementary schools from 1998 to 2006. Pope taught science and English at Haltom Middle, and grades 2–5 at North Ridge and West Birdville elementary schools from 1991–98.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and master’s degree from the University of North Texas.

Two Elementary Principals Named for 2023–24 School Year

Birdville ISD Superintendent Dr. Gayle Stinson announced the appointment of Amanda Holman, Smith Elementary’s principal, as the principal for the new partner school, and Angela Limon, Francisco Elementary’s principal, as principal at the Academy at C.F. Thomas.

Holman has been principal at David E. Smith Elementary since 2021 and was the assistant principal on the campus from 2018–21. Prior to joining Smith Elementary, she was an elementary math academic coach for BISD from 2017–18, and a math interventionist at Walker Creek and North Ridge elementary schools from 2014–17. Holman was a fifth- and third-grade teacher at Walker Creek and Hardeman elementary schools, respectively from 2010–14.

Holman earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas Woman’s University.

Angela Limon

Limon has been principal at W.T. Francisco Elementary since 2017. Before Francisco, she was the assistant principal at Foster Village Elementary from 2014–17, a math interventionist at West Birdville Elementary from 2011–14, a teacher/reading recovery specialist at Foster Village Elementary from 2006–11, and a teacher/reading recovery specialist at Richland Elementary from 1999–2006.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and master’s degree from Lamar University.

Mrs. Limon is replacing Dr. Sabrina Lindsey, who is retiring in May.

“I am excited to have two veteran principals/administrators to lead these campuses moving forward,” Dr. Stinson said. “They were chosen because of the leadership skills they bring to the table. I am confident they will lead their campuses to do remarkable things.”

Mrs. Holman and Mrs. Limon will continue in their current roles for the rest of the 2022–23 school year.
