Be in the know: More than a Diploma

Come join Birdville ISD’s Counseling and Student Services Departments on Thursday, February 2nd at 5:30 p.m. at the Professional Learning Center for our “Be in the Know” program. This program focuses on the current services available to our students and families as they navigate through this post-COVID era. The landscape on how to prepare for a career after high school has changed. We will discuss the variety of classes and options that are offered, as well as the array of academic and mental health supports that are available to students.  We also understand the importance of safety and security and will discuss what BISD is doing to keep your students safe.

BISD Mental Health Awareness Week

Birdville ISD’s Counseling Department will be recognizing Feb. 59, 2018 as Mental Health Awareness Week. The focus is to highlight healthy ways to be mentally and emotionally strong. School counselors have been working on activities, resources and skills to provide campus students, staff and community members during this week. Announcements regarding the week will be posted on the District and campus websites and each day will focus on a particular area of mental health and the positive ways to direct students to promote such wellness. The days highlight connections to BISD’s Portrait of a Graduate as well as the CORE Values.

Monday – Feb. 5                    Know Yourself

                                                            Strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, self-awareness

Tuesday – Feb. 6                    Get to Know Others

                                                            Others like you, others around you, helping people (resources), positive personal relationships

Wednesday – Feb. 7             Communication

                                                            Healthy ways to communicate, social media, cyber guidelines, etc.

Thursday – Feb. 8                  Manage Your Mood

                                                            Shift a negative mood to a positive one, shift anger to positive reactions, positive mind-set, etc.

Friday – Feb. 9                        Have a Plan

                                                            Goal setting, how to reach your goals, plan for your future and resources needed to achieve.
