Birdville ISD\u00a0is excited to announce that they have\u00a0four winners in The Foundation for Music Education\u2019s 2021 Mark of Excellence\u00a0competition.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    <\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
    • The\u00a0Birdville High School Symphonic Band<\/strong>,\u00a0directed\u00a0by\u00a0Joshua\u00a0Stover, has been selected as a\u00a0Citation of Excellence<\/em>\u00a0Winner.<\/li>
    • The\u00a0North Ridge Middle School Honors Band<\/strong>, directed by Jessica Shadman and\u00a0Scott\u00a0Dupre,\u00a0 has\u00a0been\u00a0selected\u00a0as\u00a0a\u00a0National\u00a0Winner<\/em>\u00a0in the Mark of Excellence\/National Wind Band Honors\u00a0Project.\u00a0<\/li>
    • The\u00a0Smithfield\u00a0Middle\u00a0School\u00a0Honors\u00a0Band<\/strong>,\u00a0directed\u00a0by\u00a0Joshua\u00a0Schechter, has been selected as a\u00a0National Winner<\/em>\u00a0in the Mark of Excellence\/National Wind Band Honors\u00a0Project.\u00a0<\/li>
    • The\u00a0Birdville\u00a0High\u00a0School\u00a0Jazz\u00a0Ensemble<\/strong>,\u00a0directed\u00a0by\u00a0Mike\u00a0Cheripka,\u00a0has been selected as a\u00a0Commended Winner<\/em>\u00a0in the Mark of Excellence\/National Jazz Honors.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      The Foundation for Music Education recently announced the results of the 2021 Mark of Excellence Project. Entered in the project this year were 236 of the finest high school and middle school musical ensembles in the United States. The similar Citation of Excellence Project had an enrollment of 65, for a total of 301 competing groups.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The Mark of Excellence consists of the National Wind Band Honors, National Choral Honors, National Orchestra Honors, National Jazz Honors, and National Percussion Ensemble Honors. It is a competition, entered by recordings, in which the top quarter are selected as National Winners and the second quarter receive Commended Honors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
