ACT scores for 2012 were released today, and BISD\u2019s composite score of 21.4 for English, mathematics, reading and science is higher than the state average of 20.9. Average scores on the individual portions of the tests were:<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 English \u2013 BISD scored 20.3 as compared to the state at 19.8;
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mathematics \u2013 BISD scored 21.8 as compared to the state at 21.5;
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Reading \u2013 BISD scored 21.5 as compared to the state at 21.0; and
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Science \u2013 BISD scored 21.5 as compared to the state at 20.9.<\/p>\n
Individual campus scores were 22.1 for Birdville High, 19.4 for Haltom High, and 22.5 for Richland High. A total of 501 BISD students took the test in 2012, which is a 20 percent increase over the number of students tested in the district in 2011.<\/p>\n
