\"BISDBISD hears the frustration of parents and staff<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>over the ever-changing\u00a0<\/span><\/span>plan to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>start school.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The District<\/span><\/span>\u00a0understand<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>your frustration\u00a0<\/span><\/span>because we are frustrated\u00a0<\/span><\/span>too<\/span><\/span>. The changes being made are a\u00a0<\/span><\/span>direct\u00a0<\/span><\/span>result of constantly changing g<\/span><\/span>uidelines from state and local agencies.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>These agencies want the best for\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0children and staff<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and that is why the guidance provid<\/span><\/span>ed<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to school districts across the state continues to evolve<\/span><\/span>, and we anticipate changes will continue to come as\u00a0<\/span><\/span>more is learned<\/span><\/span>\u00a0about COVID-19.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Regardless of your feelings<\/span><\/span>\u00a0concer<\/span><\/span>n<\/span><\/span>ing COVID-19<\/span><\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>it<\/span><\/span>\u00a0has completely disrupted<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>all<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>our lives<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is where we are\u00a0<\/span><\/span>as of<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Friday, July 31<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Tuesday, July 28, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued legal guidance on school opening for the upcoming school year. This guidance\u00a0<\/span><\/span>allows the District to reevaluate its plan for the start of face-to-face instruction<\/span><\/span>. BIS<\/span><\/span>D<\/span><\/span>\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><\/span>board of trustees will\u00a0<\/span><\/span>decide<\/span><\/span>\u00a0on this matter<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in early August.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u00a0<\/span><\/span>does BISD<\/span><\/span>\u00a0need from parents<\/span><\/span>?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BISD is asking parents to go ahead and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>register<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0their child(ren) for the 2020<\/span><\/span>\u2013<\/span><\/span>21 school year<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>by Monday, Aug. 10<\/strong><\/span><\/span>. When you register<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>please<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>indicate<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>your<\/span><\/span>\u00a0preference between face-to-face and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>online instruction<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>for you<\/span><\/span>r child<\/span><\/span>(ren)<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Your selection<\/span><\/span>\u00a0does\u00a0<\/span><\/span>not<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>permanently\u00a0<\/span><\/span>lock you into that choice.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0By indicating your preference, it allows the District to begin develop<\/span><\/span>ing<\/span><\/span>\u00a0plans for classes on the campuses. Again, parents will have the opportunity to change their choice between the two platforms.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
