With the start\u00a0<\/span><\/span>of the 2020<\/span><\/span>\u2013<\/span><\/span>21 school year<\/span><\/span>less than 50<\/span><\/span>\u00a0days away<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0BISD, like school districts across the state,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is\u00a0<\/span><\/span>spending<\/span><\/span>this time\u00a0<\/span><\/span>making plans for the return to school this<\/span><\/span>\u00a0August<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Our<\/span><\/span>\u00a0plans include<\/span><\/span>\u00a0regular<\/span><\/span>updates<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>parents, staff, students and the BISD family<\/span><\/span>on how the COVID-19 pandemic is\u00a0<\/span><\/span>impacting every aspect of the return to school.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>uptake\u00a0<\/span><\/span>of COVID-19 cases<\/span><\/span>\u00a0over the past week<\/span><\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>t<\/span><\/span>he Texas Education Agency (TEA)\u00a0<\/span><\/span>has slowed\u00a0<\/span><\/span>its<\/span><\/span>\u00a0release of information to schools across the state<\/span><\/span>\u00a0regarding in-person\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(<\/span><\/span>face-to-face)\u00a0<\/span><\/span>instruction<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>Even though<\/span><\/span>\u00a0there are more questions than answers<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Birdville ISD is\u00a0<\/span><\/span>diligently\u00a0<\/span><\/span>working to develop plan<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0for a return to school on Aug. 17.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Our desire is<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to provide<\/span><\/span>\u00a0face-to-face instruction<\/span><\/span>\u00a0with students in the classroom<\/span><\/span>, b<\/span><\/span>ut<\/span><\/span>\u00a0we realize not everyone\u00a0<\/span><\/span>may<\/span><\/span>\u00a0be ready to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0return<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0school at that time.<\/span><\/span>Therefore<\/span><\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>we are also planning\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0offer<\/span><\/span>\u00a0online learning<\/span><\/span>in addition to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0face-to-face\u00a0<\/span><\/span>instruction<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Since\u00a0<\/span><\/span>BISD is offering<\/span><\/span>\u00a0more than one\u00a0<\/span><\/span>option for families<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>t<\/span><\/span>he District is preparing to open registration for the 2020<\/span><\/span>\u2013<\/span><\/span>21 school year<\/span><\/span>\u00a0o<\/span><\/span>n Thursday, July 2<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0This\u00a0<\/span><\/span>will allow pare<\/span><\/span>nt<\/span><\/span>s the opportunity to review both plans and determine what is best for their chil<\/span><\/span>d<\/span><\/span>(ren)<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0The graphic below provides additional information<\/span><\/span>\u00a0regarding\u00a0<\/span><\/span>these<\/span><\/span>\u00a0plans<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

O<\/span><\/span>n T<\/span><\/span>hursday afternoon<\/span><\/span>, BISD will launch a \u201cReturn to School\u201d website.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>This website will provide additional details related\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>face-to-face an<\/span><\/span>d online learning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Please\u00a0<\/span><\/span>take time to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>r<\/span><\/span>e<\/span><\/span>view the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0informatio<\/span><\/span>n <\/span><\/span>on the website<\/span><\/span>, with the understanding i<\/span><\/span>t\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is <\/span><\/span>subject to change based on\u00a0<\/span><\/span>guidelines received<\/span><\/span>\u00a0from the TEA, UIL<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0DSHS and the CDC.<\/span><\/span>A<\/span><\/span>ny<\/span><\/span>\u00a0u<\/span><\/span>pdates will be shared with parents through the District\u2019s various c<\/span><\/span>ommunications channels.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
