As elected officials, they are the voices of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of Texas schoolchildren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201cEven though we are making a special effort in January to show appreciation to our board members, we realize their many contributions reflect a year-round commitment. They generously give of themselves to ensure that decisions directly affecting our schools are made by representatives of the BISD community, people who are close to our schools and know our teachers, parents and students,\u201d said <i>Dr. Darrell G. Brown, <\/i>Birdville ISD<i> <\/i>superintendent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cBoard members shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult decisions. Their ultimate goal is always focused on the future success of the children in BISD,\u201d Brown said. \u201cIt\u2019s more important than ever before that the public supports our schools so that our students graduate college, career and future ready. Our board members provide vision and leadership in their roles as advocates, and they will continue to stand up for public education and guard against anything that takes away from our children,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Board members serving Birdville ISD are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Dolores Webb, president;<\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Joe Tolbert, vice-president<\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Richard Davis, secretary<\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Sharon Mylius;<\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Jack McCarty;<\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Ralph Kunkel; and<\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Taylor Anderson.<\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cBirdville ISD benefits from the tireless work and countless hours contributed by these local citizens, who volunteer and work without pay. Serving as a crucial link between the community and classroom, this board is responsible for an annual budget of $238.6 million, 23,800 students, 3,006 employees, and 33 campuses.
