{"id":1126,"date":"2014-09-19T10:22:04","date_gmt":"2014-09-19T16:22:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.birdvilleschools.net\/district\/wordpress\/?p=1126"},"modified":"2014-09-19T10:22:04","modified_gmt":"2014-09-19T16:22:04","slug":"birdville-isd-students-earn-national-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.birdvilleschools.net\/district\/wordpress\/birdville-isd-students-earn-national-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Birdville ISD students earn national honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BISD is proud to announce it has five National Merit Semifinalists and nine National Merit Commended Scholars for the 2014-15 school year.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 1.5 million juniors in 22,000 high schools across the country entered the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program last year by taking the Preliminary SAT\/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Less than one percent of the nation\u2019s high school seniors received the prestigious designation of becoming a semifinalist this year.<\/p>\n<p>To become a finalist, a semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the high school principal, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student\u2019s earlier performance on the qualifying test.<\/p>\n<p>BISD\u2019s 2014-15 National Merit Semifinalists are:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Birdville High School<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nErin Ruhlman<br \/>\nLilly Clegg<br \/>\nRebecca Hurlburt<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Richland High School<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nSean Murray<br \/>\nMark Disalvi<\/p>\n<p>National Merit Commended Scholars are:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Birdville High School<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nAlexander Healy<br \/>\nSeoyong Kim<br \/>\nShiva Dheer<br \/>\nAndrew Haas<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Haltom High School<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nBrian Fuller<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Richland High School<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nBaylee Dawson<br \/>\nSteven Conner<br \/>\nAnya Kohnke<br \/>\nLindsey Butler<\/p>\n<p>The National Merit Scholarship Program will announce additional program honorees later this school year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BISD is proud to announce it has five National Merit Semifinalists and nine National Merit Commended Scholars for the 2014-15 school year.
